Northern California Events Celebrate National Train Day!

City of Emeryville Celebrates National Train Day

Join the Emeryville community at the Emeryville station on Saturday May 10, for rail-related fun for the whole family! From 11am - 1pm, the City of Emeryville is hosting a community celebration in coordination with the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority (CCJPA), Caltrans Division of Rail and Amtrak, to recognize National Train Day, and the key role that the Emeryville station plays in getting people and goods where they need to go. The CCJPA, Caltrans and Amtrak will present the first-ever California Golden STAR Award. Additionally, the station will host family-friendly fun such as a model train display, cookies and punch, and kid's activities.

Sacramento Station - Northern California's Busiest Station Celebrates!

Commemorative postcards, stickers and other giveaways will be handed out from 9am - 2pm in honor of National Train Day at Sacramento, Northern California's busiest train station (and the 8th busiest in the nation) on May 10th, 2008 while supplies last. Enjoy light refreshments and learn about Sacramento Regional Transit's direct Light Rail connection to the station.

California State Railroad Museum (Sacramento) - Show your train ticket for Free admission

Capitol Corridor, the Sacramento River Cats and the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento have teamed up to bring you free admission for National Train Day on May 10th. Show your Capitol Corridor ticket stub or River Cats game ticket, and you'll enjoy free admission to the museum. Tour a current California Coach Car, enjoy special coupon giveaways, enter to win in a special prize drawing, and see a video about California Intercity Passenger Rail. The museum is a short walk from the Sacramento Station.

San Francisco Ferry Station honors National Train Day

On May 10th, 2008, the San Francisco Ferry Building Station will celebrate National Train Day during the popular SF Farmer's Market at the beautiful Ferry Building. Enjoy commemorative postcards, stickers and other giveaways while supplies last, and enter to win a prize drawing. The SF Ferry Station is just south of the Ferry Building - look for the National Train Day Banner!

Amtrak Station Open Houses

On May 10th, 2008 various staffed Amtrak stations will be hosting open houses in celebration of National Train Day. Commemorative postcards, stickers and other giveaways will be handed out, while supplies last. Stop by one of the Capitol Corridor stations listed below to learn more about taking the train.
